Crisis

I flipped through the trade paperback collection of "Crisis of Infinite Earths", a seminal storyline in DC Comics's history where they serve the geeky needs of the fan by offering some continuity explanation or other.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say I kind of wanted to read it. I imagined it would be entertaining in the right light: ie: turn my brain off a bit, expect a lot of silliness, act like it's self-parody at times, and not take in anything too deeply.

a weird Gene Colan tale

Having exhausted their supply of Jughead's Time Police stories through the past several issues, the latest "Jughead's Double Digest" moves on to reprinting a genuine gem -- a strangely bemusing Gene Colan story from Life with Archie #238, "Will the Real Archie Please Stand Up?", where a Prince from an obscure country who looks just like Archie is kidnapped, and the "gang" dress Archie up to look like him and... predictable to the end, but it's still a well-done somewhat quirky story. Try it. You'll like it.

It also helps that there are a few classic Samm Schwartz and Harry Lucey tales. Sure, you can probably rip out about half the comic and improve it by doing so, but that's the nature of the company.

Jetta

I note that a reprinted edition of the old "Jetta" comic book, a comic by Dan Decarlo with a premise that would be a ripoff of the Jetsons had it not predated that show, is coming out. Limited edition and not mass-produced, unfortunately, but still a good thing.
