Somewhat inexplicably but not completely, I saw an advertisement for a comic book convention in Seattle in the Portland Mercuy.

And I saw this as a major draw.

"Meet the Man Who Killed Captain America.
ED BRUBAKER".

The death of Captain America is a major story, echoes of the Death of Superman in its effect on the media (and echoes of cynics pouring back in time to point to other deaths of the two superhero)...

... but, jeez. Ed Brubaker is the writer of it? In the mid-1990s, I never would have guessed.

Huh?

I noticed Renensco Blue popping up as an extra in a panel of the comic book Futurama (actually graphic novel collecting four issues). So as not to confuse it with any other faceless dinosuar looking creature with a backward baseball cap, his t-shirt had the "Mad Planet" figure --

-- all of which means simply whoever drew that issue is an Evan Dorkin fan. Nothing more and nothing less.
