Hm.

The dean of Archie artists, Dan DeCarlo spent nearly 50 years with the characters of Riverdale High, drawing every character at one time or another. Archie: The Best of Dan DeCarlo Volume One contains dozens of stories handpicked by DeCarlo connoisseurs, all shot from original art and recolored to match the flavor of the original publishing. The Best of Dan DeCarlo is the first in IDW's Archie "Best Of" series, which will grow to include collections for Bob Montana and Stan Goldberg, among others.
Now, I love Dan Decarlo as much as the next person -- well, not really -- , but I can't quite suss out a "Best of Dan Decarlo" here. His art is uniformly good, more or less -- I take some over-stretching to have happened in the late 60s. The cover shown is run of the mill and not particularly noteworthy. It looks like a relatively lousy project, excepting that when I look through the digests these days they've sort of moved on from reprinting his material. Maybe they could tap Seth (he of "Palookaville" fame) to pick the stories out? Then it'd be a fascinating comic.
Spare me the "Best of Stan Goldberg".
What I'd really be interested is a "Best of Frank Doyle" -- he's a bit uneven so we have a lott of chaffe to delete, and has some definable categories of story-types to frame the work and add some variety.
